Thank you for coming to this page. I want to take a minute to share a little bit about my beautiful best friend, Michele, and explain why I set up this fundraiser. Michele, or Missy to those of us who know her best, is one of the strongest women I know! She is also super proud, and the last thing she would want is charity, but as you continue to read-on, you will understand why this fundraising event is happening. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Michele for most of her life, and she is one of the fiercest friends I have ever had! She has, and will (literally) go to war for her friends and family, and would give you everything she had and more, if you needed it! This is why I am asking you to join me in helping HER this time! I’m not sure how many people know the specifics of what is going on with Michele, her children, and her soon to be ex-husband. It has taken a lot for Michele to get to the point of opening up about it in such a public forum, but the situation has reached a really bad place, and well, here we are. For context, during the pandemic, Michele was let-go from her job of more than 15-years. She became a stay at home mom, and had to juggle her new normal, with a 2 year old, and a newborn - doing it alone - all while dealing with postpartum depression. Through it all, you’d never know she was struggling. That’s the thing about Michele, you never really know when she is struggling because she always puts on a smile, and is always there for her children and everyone else in her life. Michele has always been an awesome human and amazing friend, but watching her become such an amazing mother has been my favorite part of who she is! Michele is “the mom” so many moms wish they could be - actually! She makes and KEEPS plans, she crafts, she’s silly, playful and funny. She is nurturing, caring, and so so real! She’s a classroom mom, she’s the first to volunteer to chaperone a field trip. She makes the happiness of not just her kids, but everyone of her family and friends, and their kids a top priority. She is always there for me and my family, and now it’s time to return the favor. Michele is going through the hardest year of her life. Not too long ago, she found out her husband was having an affair, and her’s and her children’s world fell apart. After discovering the affair, the web of lies and deceit began to unravel. She found out the home they were living in and remodeling was secretly owned by her sister-in-law. She discovered unpaid hospital and medical bills in her name related to the births of her children, which ultimately destroyed her credit. Being a stay-at-home mom with no income made it difficult for her to get out, adding the fact that her credit was ruined made it almost impossible. As a result, she was forced to continue to live with her estranged husband, until she could get some sort of alimony or support to get back onto her feet. Throughout this relationship, she was emotionally, mentally, financially, and ultimately physically abused! When things got physical, she had to leave for her’s and her children’s well-being. So, she moved in with her mother into a one bedroom apartment. Her and the kids are sleeping on couches and living with minimal belongings. Her soon to be ex-husband is now taking away her car. She can’t get her own apartment or house, a credit card, or a car because her credit was destroyed. In the end, Michele trusted the wrong man to love and protect her. If you know Michele, then you know she is the most loyal and loving friend and mother. She is always the first to offer help to anyone, even when she’s falling apart on the inside. So I’m asking anyone who is reading this to help my best friend, and her kids get away from the abuse and controlling hand of her soon-to-be ex-husband.
