Update 7/8: Amanda was in surgery for 5 hours yesterday where they were able to repair her femur. She will have to have another surgery at a later date to fix the ankle. Amanda is up now and in good spirits but very weak and sore. Thank you all for your support and continue to pray for her speedy recovery. On July 6th around 6:30pm, Amanda was driving on a two lane highway when a truck crossed the line, striking her van head on. She was then rear ended by the car behind her. Amanda was pinned inside the vehicle and rescued by firefighters, then transferred to Genesis East where she was life-flighted to University of Iowa Hospital. She received an emergency blood transfusion and is currently in surgery to repair her femur broken in 2 places, a shattered kneecap, a broken ankle, and 7-13 broken ribs. The owner of the truck was pronounced dead on the scene. Amanda is a wife, mother of two, and the sole owner of Shirley Clean LLC. She works full time cleaning homes, always with a smile on her face. She provides so much love and light for everyone around her and I know she won’t let this stop her shine! But with her major injuries, there will be a lengthy recovery to come. I’m hoping we can help ease her burden by collecting money for medical expenses, months worth of lost wages, and to replace the totaled van which she relies on for her business. She is someone who is always doing what she can for others and she deserves the same in return. I will keep you updated.
