Hello, My name is Monique and I am reaching out for help on behalf of my father Alex. My father has always been a hardworking and loving parent that put his family first and would not hesitate to do what he can for his family, friends or anyone who needs help. When my mother passed unexpectedly, he raised both myself and my brother on his own. He’s been working as a Machinist for the past 28 years and loves his job. So when he started to get sick, he tried his hardest to push through to keep working. He developed a cough that little by little began to take him down, to the point that he was not able to work. On July 20th, 2024, he had deteriorated to the point that I had to rush him to the emergency room. After running many different tests, we were told that his situation was far more serious than anyone could have imagined. We were told that he had Congestive Heart Failure, Pneumonia, and his kidneys and liver were not functioning properly. They informed us that he would be transferred to an ICU at another hospital to help him get better. The doctor's words were deafening. Once he was transferred to a larger hospital, the amazing doctors and nurses did everything they had to to get him stable. Once he was completely evaluated in the ICU, we were told that the complete diagnosis for his condition was Congestive Heart Failure, Pulmonary Edema, Pleural Effusion and Aortic Stenosis. Through all the hard work of the amazing doctors and nurses, they were able to get him breathing right and better than before. My father will be required to have a Cardiac Catheterization procedure done this week to help open the valve in his heart that is not working how it should be. Once this is done, he will have to be out of work for more time while we get him back to 100%. As much as we want to try to do what we can on our own, we have accepted the reality that we may need help. We never ask for anything but we understand that sometimes we have to allow others to lend a hand when in need. Anything that is donated will go to living expenses, medications and other things that he will need to be to help get him back to his hardworking self. Thank you very much from the Herrera Family!
