Hi, my name is Karen Thurman I am asking for financial help to support my daughter, Alea's tumor removal and recovery. A few months back she was diagnosed with a benign tumor located inside her lower right side of her jaw. The X-ray shows a large dark area which is the tumor. As I type this my 20 year old is in surgery for the next six hours. The doctors will have to remove four teeth along with the tumor. It's very aggressive and has eaten bone and roots of several teeth. The doctors are placing a metal plate to reconnect her jaw bone that has been damaged by the tumor. They are also using cadaver bone and also removing bone marrow from her hip. Yes I know this is a lot!!!! Her mouth will be wired shut for two to four weeks and she will be on a liquid diet. They can't pinpoint the cause but says it's not genetic. The ride to VCU School of Dentistry in Richmond VA just broke my heart this morning. To see your child even if she is 20 so scared is unbearable. I do have to say VCU nurses, doctors and anesthesiologists this morning were AMAZING. Their love and passion for patients are REMARKABLE. They took that scared young woman and put her at ease 1000%. We are so fortunate to have them on our side. The money l'm raising will allow me to be home with my child for the recovery. She just moved to Los Angeles two weeks ago and had to fly back to Virginia for surgery and money is a BIG issue honestly for us both. I have to be there for my baby and am asking if you can give a little from your heart and pocket. We all would be grateful. Thank you for reading this and if you can’t make a monetary donation please please say a special prayer for her to get through this with flying colors. Thank you. P.S. please pray that the delicate nerve they have to move will not leave her mouth numb indefinitely.
