Update 27th July. Hi everyone I have been getting stronger every day and for the most part feeling good. Also I would like to advise that I have added Jivan Juteram (you would see him listed on this page) as the bank account in Florida that would transfer the money to me. So don’t get confused when you see this Thanks you again for all your help ———————————————- Good day friends and family and also to those of you who may not know me. My name is Alan Cabral and I have been a type 1 diabetic from childhood. I am now 54 years old and the diabetes has caused deteriorating cardiac health which I have been experiencing since before 2016 when I had 2 stents put into arteries of my heart. In April of this year, I had a mild heart attack for which I was hospitalized for 5 days. I went for an angiogram and discovered I had 5 blockages with one being 99% blockage on a major artery that provides more than 2/3 of the blood flow to my heart. An angioplasty (stent) operation was required to prevent a major heart attack and to clear the blockage. I was immediately put on three blood thinners to reduce the risk of a major heart attack in the interim until I could have the stent put in. Two months from having the minor heart attack I was scheduled for angioplasty on the 5th June at Mount Hope hospital (covered by the government). I was taken into the operating theatre at 9am and was kept awake during the procedure which went terribly awry. The stent broke loose and floated away in my artery. All attempts to retrieve it failed and things then escalated quickly requiring emergency open heart surgery by another team of doctors later that day (bypass surgery) led by the brilliant Dr. Mohammed from St. Clair medical. The blood thinners I had been on made the surgery very complicated. I needed 5 pints of blood and a blood transfusion machine. Truthfully, I almost died that day. I spent 12 days recovering at Mount Hope and was thankfully then sent home with a prescription for 18 meds to continue my healing. Out of 18 meds the pharmacy had 4. Of those four, one was a blood pressure tablet to keep my heart beat down so the bypass could hold and mend. Unfortunately, the pharmacy made an error on the dosage and gave me four times the strength required. Not knowing about this error, two days later I had to be rushed to WestShore in emergency because my blood pressure was so low I almost died. After three days’ stay at WestShore I was released with an additional prescription to be filled with two new drugs to add to the list. Those two new tablets sent me into a diabetic ketoacidosis syndrome two days later, causing me to again be emergency rushed to WestShore medical as I could not catch my breath and my blood pressure was out of control. There I spent 5 or 6 days feeling like I was on the verge of death until stable enough to be released to again start the road to recovery. In the last week, I have been feeling better and finally seeing improvements. However, the missing stent is still “at large” and a problem to be solved in future. A scan led the doctors to believe they know where the stent has lodged itself. They have advised to not touch it for now as the risk is too high at this time to reopen me via another surgery to remove it until I am strong enough. Should the stent become dislodged on its own before it can be surgically removed, it can cause serious internal damage where I could possibly bleed out fatally. It has been advised that I should seek another medical opinion in the USA to accurately locate the stent and have it removed with as little risk as possible. Currently I am in debt to repay my unexpected Westshore expenses. The multiple medications I am on are also extremely costly. The medical opinion abroad I am advised to seek to remedy this mess as well as any future procedures to address the rogue stent will be at my personal expense including travel, accommodation, medications, tests etc. As such, I am humbly asking for the support of my friends to help me offset mounting medical expenses. Please help me to get the care I desperately need to have this stent removed as the consequences of it staying in my body can be deadly. I thank you all in advance for your concern shown and generosity. If you are unable to donate, sharing this with others and your prayers will be deeply appreciated. Lots of love, Your friend Alan.
