Hiiiii! My name is Chloe Howells and I’ve created this fundraiser for a very special fellow military family who are dear friends of myself and my husband. The funding will be providing support into the renovation of their home in order to adapt to medical and developmental needs of their gorgeous son. This involves a downstairs bedroom, a wet room, a specialist bath, outside decking and ramps for garden access and front of house access. The target for this fundraiser is just a fraction of the overall cost they have been quoted for these life changing adjustments to their home. Our friends, Morgan and Laura are mother and father to three beautiful boys; Freddie (8) Tommy (5) and Alfie (1). In 2024 the family welcomed Alfie into the world, 6 days overdue, in their home after a healthy pregnancy. After an incredibly intense first few months of his life, they were told Alfie had a rare genetic condition called ALG13. In Alfie’s case this is de novo which means it is not inherited but a mutation. It comes alongside developmental and epileptic encephalopathy. Alfie’s epilepsy is intractable, drug resistant and he’s currently on a medical ketogenic diet alongside a NG tube to top up his nutrition. He is able to consume smooth purées and Laura spends days batch cooking these and weighing out each and every ingredient to ensure he gets the correct ratio for his diet. There is no prognosis for Alfie as this is such a rare condition (even more so in boys) and as a family they now take every day as it comes. They have been so incredibly strong throughout this last year and a half, all the while still smiling for their two other beautiful boys. Laura did not return to work in order to care full time for Alfie. Alfie needs around the clock care due to still having multiple seizures day and night which then need monitoring and occasionally require medical rescue treatment. As a family they have been through so much already in his little life, and we just want to do as much as we can to support them.
