LFEBridge
DONATE

Hey all, I assure you this is the last resort, and I hate creating a LFEBridge with everything that is in my being. If you know me, you know I am way too proud to ask for handouts or help of any kind. I never ever have, But, this is for Lillie, and I have run out of other options, so I'm putting my pride aside to do what I can to get her what she needs. Our accessible van for Lillie was totaled last month by a lady that ran a light and hit me in an intersection. Now luckily, the kids weren't with me and I'm physically fine too. So I am truly more than thankful in that regard. However. As many of you may remember, it took grants and prayers to get this van in the first place when we got it only 2 years ago. Now, neither insurance company will cover her accessible valet seat at all, despite multiple calls, supervisors and appeals. And I'm finding out I can't get all of the duplicate grant funding for it either. I'm trying to remain hopeful (and sane) and explore options. But everything keeps falling through. I wish with my whole heart I didn't have to have this van or valet seat. But Lillie doesn't and won't ever have the ability to climb into a vehicle, and she's too heavy to reasonably lift into a vehicle anymore at 100 lbs and growing. I do the best I can, but as a single income household and a teacher, I just can't afford the gap left by insurance. And the clock is now ticking as the rental van also goes away this Saturday now that both companies have made their "best" offer. All I have at this point is an offer of the depreciated basic van value in order to pay off the old van and still somehow get a new van and accessible valet seat. So, pride aside, the money I am asking for is to help with the cost of the valet seat for Lillie to be able to get into a vehicle and ride safely where she needs to go. If you're not sure what a valet seat is, it is a chair that rotates out of the vehicle down to ground level for her to be transferred into, safely restrained, and lifts her back into the vehicle.
