**UPDATE AT BOTTOM ** I am raising money for Wendi, and perhaps more importantly, her 11-year-old daughter. I had the privilege of meeting Wendi 5 years ago when I googled “best facials near me” and stumbled upon a Yelp score of 5 stars. I was lucky to fill in for a cancellation, as regular appointments are a challenge to book – she often has zero openings for 6-12 months, almost unheard of in her industry and profession as an aesthetician. After my first facial, I understood why she was rated so highly and fully booked. She’s incredible. Fast forward to today, and I would now call Wendi a dear friend, and someone that I have developed a deep admiration for, for many reasons: Wendi is a self-employed, single mom, head of household, entrepreneur, and small business owner with 1 employee –herself. She homeschools, provides for her daughter, and does not make money unless she is working, on her feet, tirelessly, for her extremely loyal clients. As with many businesses and people, Covid was a major setback for her since she was forced to shut down her business for several months. Today, she is on the verge of shutting down again, this time for personal health reasons. As you can imagine, the thought of being set back financially again, while you’re still working to recover from a prior setback is daunting. So, Wendi hasn’t. Instead, she’s pushing herself to continue to work, even though she has been hemorrhaging for 3+ weeks and has been directed by a doctor to admit herself to the emergency room. She doesn’t want to cancel on her clients and let them down, she doesn’t want to leave her daughter in an uncertain situation and let her down, and she doesn’t want to let herself down. But in my opinion, she doesn’t have a choice to wait any longer. I’m hoping to raise enough money to cover her expenses and lost revenue for the week, so she takes the first steps towards healing and recovery. While meeting this goal will only help with a small percentage of the overall financial hurdle she has in front of her, I’m hoping it will encourage her to seek the medical attention she needs as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your help and consideration…and, if you’re unable to donate, but feel so inclined, please share with others so we can help put our arms around Wendi and the medical journey in front of her. **UPDATE** THANK YOU to everyone who helped donate and give Wendi the confidence to seek the medical attention she needed and deserved. After her initial visit to the ER, the decision was made to undergo expedited, life-saving surgery this past week. She is still in the hospital today, and has a long road of recovery ahead of her. Wendi spent time between her initial visit and surgery working as hard as physically possible to support her clients, make money and save for the long journey ahead, but she was limited in working days and physical capability. We have updated our goal to continue to help with medical and daily expenses as she will be unable to work for at least another 30-45 days. If you are unable to donate financially, but can share this with friends/family, we would greatly appreciate it. Our new goal is focused on support through December, but will only help with a percentage of her overall expenses while not working. Every contribution, share and prayer matters! Thank you again for your continued support and love for Wendi and her daughter.
