"I do what I do because it is the right thing to do. I am a warrior, and it is the way of the warrior to fight superior odds." - Paul Watson, Canadian Activist . There are many times in life where odds seem to be against us. And the way we deal with these times is what defines us. There were times where I, Jacks Genega, didn't have the tools to deal with what was in front of me and depended on others to help me stay afloat. However, society sometimes turns a blind eye to those in need. And when searching for relief but receiving only indifference, we then struggle to fit in. But its in the wilderness, where we all belong. . It's through the lessons I've gained being dependant on me and me alone that has brought healing to my life when society has failed. There is no manual that tells us how to deal with trauma. There is no magic pill to make it all go away. We have to go into the wilderness and the wilderness within us. . I began my journey in the field of bushcraft and survival because I had to in order to overcome situations I willfully immersed myself in to in order to heal. Out on the trail I've encountered earthquakes under my feet, raging rivers with no bridges to cross, glacial ice that has swallowed me whole, wild animals too close for comfort, and other varying inconvenient situations. I've built emergency fires and shelters and had to depend on a map and compass when my GPS has failed. All of these instances have made me stronger but not just in the wild, rather everyday life. My brand Wildcard Wilderness' slogan is Skills, Wisdom, and Guts Against All Odds. With skills you can save yourself from harm if you know what to do when you need to. With a bit of guts you can push through the toughest of times, and not just the physical. It takes courage to keep going and to not give up on yourself. But it's the wisdom one can find within and from nature that can lead you on a path to recovery by daring greatly. . Every time one enters the wilderness one can encounter a wildcard situation albeit an injury, getting lost, bad weather, etc. But I want to encourage others to flip the script. With skills, wisdom, and guts one can be the wildcard and overcome any sitation against all odds. . It's my mission in life to share these skills and lessons in hopes that every shieldmaiden who believes she can't, can. It's my mission to show every battle angel that the impossible is possible. And its my mission to teach every wildcard that through self-reliance one can become resilient. . Please follow me as I take on my biggest challege yet, Sweden's 270 mile walking trail, the Kungsleden, that crosses the Lapland region and home to Europe's indigenous people, the Sami. . Share.garmin.com/wildcardjacks . I'm hoping to raise 10 dollars for every mile on the trail for the Nature Conservancy, an organization that protects the wild spaces around us in hopes they remain for future generations to rewild in.
