Hi, my name is Aquanita the sister of Kenneth Harris. November 5, 1989, Kenneth was convicted as a juvenile and was sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. The motion of Discovery was filed on March 07, 1990, but it was denied and neither was a post-conviction relief ever filed on his behalf, making it even harder not impossible, just harder to seek justice. I believe that "If I want the rainbow, I have to put up with the rain". Supreme Court has transformed the constitutional landscape of juvenile regulation. Landmark Juvenile Life without Parole Decision: Miller v. Alabama(2012). In my findings, more juveniles like Kenneth were transferred to criminal court and tried as adults in the 1990s. Reformers raised concern that juveniles due to developmental immaturity, might not meet the standards for competence to stand trial. It was directed specifically at how a teenage defendant's immature capabilities might lead to a harsh sentence, raising concerns about the developmental knowledge that supports the constitutional framework and the "children are different", principle. My brother was a product of immaturity and not a bad character. January 18, 2017, upon my request, I wrote a letter to our Governor, requesting Kenneth to be moved from Angola Louisiana Prison and upon his release to reside, Kenneth to seek mental health. On January 2019, Kenneth resides at Elyan Hunts Correctional providing services for mental health. On April 9, 2024, we endured the traumatic loss of losing our mom, suddenly from a Massive Heart Attack. Since our loss, it has become a financial burden for me to keep providing the essentials. The funds will be used for commissary, clothing, personal hygiene & finding a lawyer to finally bring my brother home. My brother means the world to me, a brother who will stand up for me, a brother that values my opinion, and I'm lucky to be his sibling. I want to express my gratitude. I am grateful for your help, so very grateful for your time. Thank you for such a wonderful donation and thank you for your support and for seeing me through all the many life challenges I have experienced. I couldn't have done this without you.
