Hi everyone! We are here for your help and positive thoughts. My name is Paige, and Teagen is my older sister. She is 32 years old, she's kind, smart, funny and generous, among many other things. But most importantly, Teagen IS a mother. From the moment she could walk and talk she has had a natural maternal and caring personality. When Teagen was 15 years old she was diagnosed with Primary Ovarian Failure Syndrome. Teagen's ovaries never developed, she never had a menstrual cycle, and tragically had no eggs to be able to conceive naturally. This was devastating news for Teagen, and all of us close to her. Teagen gave up her dreams of becoming an Early Childhood Educator as she found it would be too difficult for her to be around children all day. It was not until later in life that Teagen and her team of doctors discovered that she could infact carry her own child, however she would need an egg and sperm donor. Teagen has not given up on her dream, and her biggest desire in life, which is to have her own baby, which she is trying to do on her own. We understand that many women, people, and couples experience an array of fertility challenges, and we support and empathise with each and every one. Though, we would like to share this personal story with you. Teagen's IVF journey began in 2024. My other older sister, beautiful Krystal, volunteered to donate her own eggs to Teagen. Krystal went through multiple lifestyle changes, blood tests, ultrasounds, and medications in order to best prepare herself to be able to donate her eggs, and hope to achieve the highest possible quality eggs. Teagen was placed on the list to purchase donated sperm (we did have a little fun choosing our sperm donor ). Since then, Krystal has done 3 egg donations, and there has been 3 different sperm donors. - The 1st egg donation we got 17 eggs and 4 made it to embryos. - The 2nd egg donation we got 18 eggs and 3 made it to embryos. Teagen pays extra to have the embryos microscopically biopsied and tested to check for abnormal cells. Unfortunately 1 x embryo came back as abnormal, so that left us with 2 embryos. - The 3rd egg donation we got 10 eggs and 2 made it to embryos. So in total, Teagen has received 8 embryo transfers. Tragically, this included 2 miscarriages, 1 x chemical pregnancy, and the remaining were simply unsuccessful. Her 1st miscarriage, Teagen was unaware that it had happened. She went to the hospital one night because she had some light bleeding/spotting. After hours of waiting the the emergency department on her own at 2:00am during the COVID pandemic, they did an ultrasound and blood test, told her everything was fine and sent her home. Teagen went to her doctors appointment 2 weeks later for her 7 week pregnancy scan, sat in the waiting room on her own (no visitors allowed), assuming she was still pregnant, only to have that ultrasound confirm that she did infact miscarry 2 weeks earlier. This is just one of the many struggles Teagen has had to face during her long journey, alongside being a single woman/parent, the physical toll countless medications have on her body and hormones, the mental health challenges and feelings of isolation, and the heartbreaking emotion of feeling like she has somehow failed. In conclusion, unfortunately finances have become overwhelming for Teagen to continue managing on her own. Currently, she has spent almost $80,000 The cost of IVF is crushing to everyone who needs to go though with it. The IVF specialist appointments, the ultrasounds, the blood tests, the medications, the weekly intravenous transfusions, egg collections which include hospital fees, specialist fees, anaesthetist, laboratory fees, storage fees, egg/embryo testing and biopsy fees, sperm donor fees and storage, embryo transfer fees which includes further hospital fees, medications, medications, and more medications. It is also worth mentioning the amount of sick leave or unpaid leave Teagen has had to take off due to medical appointments etc. If you have the ability to be able to donate any amount, we would be forever grateful and blessed. Or if you have the ability to share this story, we would be forever thankful. Thank you all for reading this story, and please keep Teagen in your thoughts and prayers
