Hello friends. As most of our circle knows, we were placed with an Autism Service Dog for a couple years now, with great success! Recently we had some life changing events happen in a matter of weeks. It has saddened the family to break the news that Lexis service dog has passed away due to unforeseen health reasons. It happened so quickly that we did not have time to stop and think. Lexis service dog, Romance, was a tremendous help with her social anxiety, elopement, deep pressure and calming during a meltdown. She was also a best friend to her. They spent countless hours together on the floor at home, running around in the back yard and even taking naps together! Lexi also learned the fundamentals of caring for her service dog and best friend. Our original plan was to retire romance in another year purchase another qualified puppy and tether the puppy to Romance. That way Romance would have been able to train the new puppy. Then we would have been able to train general and specific commands to the new puppy and then certify in a year or two. But the recent circumstances did not allow that to happen. We feel the time has come to start fundraising again for a new dog and training for that dog. She misses and asks for Romance everyday, and we can see that she actively looks for that stability when we are out and about, as well as at home. Please consider donating to Lexi’s new service dog and the proper training needed.
