Those close to me will know that Huntington’s disease runs in my family and is therefore, very close to my heart. Multiple family members have unfortunately suffered with this, no more so than my Mum. With that in mind, and having recently been successful in my ballot application for the London Marathon, as well as buying a place in the Manchester Marathon, I will be looking to run both of these in April 2024 (14th and 21st respectively). My aim for this fundraiser is to raise awareness and much needed funds to continue the research into this disease. Huntington’s disease is an illness caused by a faulty gene in your DNA. It affects the body’s nervous system, and currently, there is no cure. It’s passed down genetically, and each child that is born to a parent with Huntington’s, has a 50% chance of developing it themselves. Thanks for taking the time to read this. If you can spare anything to help the cause, it would be greatly appreciated, and will certainly help me get out and crack on with the training during the cold winter months later this year!
