Hello! My name is Jack Pearl, and I'm a grad student in the Film MFA program at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. I'm currently in the process of planning the production of my final project, a 30-minute short film called "Zealot," and my fellow classmates and I need your help! First of all, you may be thinking, "What is 'Zealot' exactly?" To understand what it truly is, I think it's important to reflect on how fortunate we are to live in a time and place where we can all freely practice our respective religions. But what if that wasn't the case? What if your faith made you an enemy of the state? Would you give up your faith? Would you become a martyr? Or would you fight back?... These are the types of questions explored in this dystopian thriller. Influenced by other fantastic dystopian films, television shows, and books such as Book of Eli, Children of Men, The Road, The Last of Us, and 1984, "Zealot" takes place in a dystopian future where all religion is outlawed under penalty of death. In this hellish future, Max, a Christian smuggler, must deliver precious cargo to an underground church community hiding in a city controlled by a fascist police force. We have a fantastic group of artists who are ready and willing to take this story and make it come to life on the screen. However, in order to afford the locations, talented actors, convincing props, and other production personnel and materials necessary to make it come together, we'll need some help. That's where you come in! Over the next few months, you can help us reach our goal of $15,000, which will be used to secure breathtakingly convincing set locations, design convincing props and decorations, and even utilize digital effects that will allow us to transport the audience to a different world. We're excited to bring this thrilling story of faith in the face of unthinkable adversity to life, and if you can help us reach our goal of $15,000 by September 15th, we can make it happen! Anything helps! In the meantime, thanks for your consideration and God Bless!
