UPDATE: We have now had a goodwill gesture from the vets which means I am able to drop the amount we are trying to raise again! We are £1100 short of our target which is now £4,200. Thank you to all who have helped so far. Please do continue to share as we do desperately need to raise the rest. UPDATE: We have now had the insurance settle part of the bills ands so we are able to drop the amount we are trying to raise to £5,000. We are so grateful for everyone's help, but are not there yet. Please do continute to share and donate if you can. Thank you so much. Hi, my name is Alex - please can you help Wispa? He is my son’s autism assistance dog who has unexpectedly become paralysed through a slipped disc. He needs urgent surgery and unfortunately the vet’s bill will far exceed his insurance. Wispa is currently in a specialist veterinary hospital in Taunton and will need to stay their for approximately a week before undertaking intensive rehabilitation therapy. He is the most glorious loving dog and we just want to give him the chance to live his best life. Micah was not diagnosed with autism until he was 18 years old and has had a really difficult journey because the help for young adults is just not available. He has struggled to find education that he could access, suffered bereavement and the lack of appropriate support available has meant that he became severely mentally unwell. He attempted suicide more than 20 times in the space of a year. Without Wispa he would most definitely have succeeded in his attempts. Wispa helped him through this time and enabled him to start leaving the house on his own and access shops and the community which he couldn’t do before. We finally found a placement for his education and living in 2024 and with Wispa’s help he completed his level 3 education and has been offered a university place in September. UPDATE: Wispa is doing really well and has motion in both his legs following the operation . We are still aiming for £4,500 to allow for his therapy post op, but will update this as soon as we have more information.
