Myself and Grace are off to the Next Kenya to volunteer at a safe house for women, orphanage and baby village. Part of this trip will be packing up Christmas boxes for the kids, bringing them school supplies, clothes, shoes and wellies and basic sanitary items (as well as toys and fun crafting). We will also bring gifts for the babies and women as well as support the charity while we are out there. Often, the charity itself will help cover for volunteers but due to the size and support for this charity, we are funding everything ourselves, including supplies - which is why we need your help! The Nest reaches out to prevent the children of imprisoned mothers from having to fight for survival on the streets, they look after a variety of ages, from babies to 18 and most of the mothers have been imprisoned for petty offences. The Nest not only houses and looks after the children and babies of these mothers, but also rehabilitates and later reintegrates them and their released mothers with their extended families and society at large. As well as a rehabilitation centre, this is also a safehouse for mothers running from abuse from any age. More information on The Nest can be found here: https://www.thenesthome.org/en/home/. We will be volunteering in a children's home, halfway house and the nest baby village. If you would like more information on what we are doing while we are out there, please let me know! Any donations would be much appreciated to support the gathering and buying of items, getting the items to The Nest safely and the volunteer costs. Thank you wonderful people!!
