The Duluth Art Institute is seeking donations to address an immediate need to vacate the St. Louis County Depot. With your support, the County Board extended the lease to May 1, 2024. Thank you for showing up to speak and send emails. We need help with moving costs and the purchase of materials to support setting up gallery spaces (packing, walls, lighting, reinstallation). St. Louis County recently informed the DAI that it may no longer occupy the Depot space that has been home to our galleries for half a century. The County Selection Committee rejected the DAI Bid for Leased Space citing concerns about using the space for exhibiting art in addition to the proposed rate for the lease. Our Lincoln Park Building is used to capacity, serving studio artists and art learners. It is not an option for gallery space. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause which means so much to so many. If 20 people gave $2500 that would get us there! Every dollar counts! We appreciate every gift! For 116 years, the Duluth Art Institute has worked to enrich the daily life of the greater Twin Ports with dynamic, innovative visual arts programming that upholds excellence and displays uncompromising talent from our region and beyond. As one of the only art institutions nationwide that is BIPOC-led in both its executive leadership and board, the DAI advocates for artists, arts learners, and art viewers in ways that amplify narratives erased or overwritten by the dominant society and that celebrate all. The DAI accomplishes its mission through its exhibit space at The Depot in Downtown Duluth, and its Lincoln Park building that brings educational programming and creative space to families and residents in a vibrant but historically underserved area of Duluth.
