July 13- UPDATE Emily saw Dr. Rucinski on July 12 at medvet. She has been diagnosed with DCM (dilated cardiomyopathy) . Her treatment plan will be as follows: 1. She will need to be on the following medications the rest of her life ( Lasix, Pimobendan, Enalapril and Spironolactone) and one supplement (taurine). 2. She will need blood work every 2-3 weeks to ensure that her kidneys are able to tolerate these medications that make the kidneys work very hard. 3. chest x-rays monthly to make sure that her lungs are clear and not filling with fluid. These 3 items will cost about $600 - $800 each month and quite honestly we are terrified about how we are going to be able to give Emily the care that she will so desperately need. Thank you to everyone for their love and support and ongoing prayers I am terrified, scared and ashamed but this is not for me this is for Emily. Please continue to share as many places as you can and maybe just keep sharing over and over. i’m begging If you or anyone does not feel comfortable using go fund me you can call my vet directly their information is: Rippowam animal hospital 203-329-8811 Thank you so much for listening. sincerely, julie Hi my name is Julie Watson and I am putting together this page for my beloved Emily, On July 4, what we expected to be a nice holiday hike turned out to be a nightmare. Emily was swimming and she suddenly appeared to be drowning, I dove into the lake to help her and pulled her out. Being about a mile and a half into the woods, I had to call 911 in order to get her out so we could rush her to the ER vet. I originally thought that she just had ingested too much water and needed to be seen ASAP to rule out heat stroke and or blue algae toxicity. https://www.facebook.com/reel/1293649837905046 When we arrived at the vet they took her back to do CBC, chest x-rays. They came out about 2 hours later stating that her bloodwork looked good however she had a very large heart and fluid in her lungs as well as a lot of edema. She is in suspected dilated cardiomyopathy and has left sided congestive heart failure. Emily was released to our care last night on Lasix and Pimobendan and is recovering. Her breath rate is still very high indicating that she is not stabilized. Emily desperately needs to have an EKG and we currently do not have the resources for this so that is why we are reaching out. If anyone would even consider donating to her cause we would be eternally grateful. Please consider as we need to know what is wrong with the heart to help keep her comfortable. Please keep her in your prayers.
