Hello, my name is Dr. Nhi Pham and my journey with the Barikiwa Maternity Clinic and Dental Center began more than a decade ago. I am a mom, a wife, and a local family dentist at Mukilteo Dental Center with a passion to serve through local and international outreach. With complications with two of my own three pregnancies and deliveries, I felt the deep desire that other women around the world should be able to give birth in a safe and supported environment. In 2018, through the love of community, we opened the doors of Barikiwa in Tanzania where hundreds of babies have been delivered and even a few sets of twins! Barikiwa translates to Blessing in Swahili. Dr. Ashley Lucas is our Medical and Dental Director. Through Medical Relief International, we wanted to invest in women around the world and supported Dr. Ashley through school and helped to open Barikiwa. In January of 2024, we opened the addition of the Surgical Center so life saving C-sections could be performed. I humbly ask for help towards donations to purchase a much needed Ultrasound machine and medical equipment for the clinic. Air Tanzania has promised to help transport up to one ton of humanitarian aid along with the medical missions team of doctors, nurses, and support team on the upcoming delivery of their their 787 Dreamliner from Boeing. I have met with the CEO of Air Tanzania, Boeing, Government Officials & Dignitaries, and met with the Ambassador and flown to Washington D.C. to visit the Tanzanian Embassy to garner support and approval for the shipment. The last step I need is the much needed funds to make this dream a reality. Donations are tax deductible and 100% goes to Charity through Medical Relief International. Barikiwa is a recognized non-profit in Tanzania and the government has classified a tax exemption on all the equipment, supplies, and medication flown in via Air Tanzania.
