Six weeks ago, Travis was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 cancer. After many discussions about chemotherapy, he received news that the cancer was beyond chemo. About a week ago he was placed in Hospice care at Rose Arbor in Kalamazoo. At 34 years old this has been a lot to process for Travis. At this time, he has moments of lucidity, but lately he has been struggling with verbalization and is sleeping more often than not. The main purpose of his care is to keep him comfortable. His mom Jill, sister Jessica and her husband Brian, brother Dustin, and girlfriend Katie have rarely left Travis’ side since learning of his diagnosis. They can all use your prayers and love as each one is wrestling and grasping with the many emotions that come with this kind of diagnosis. One of the hardest aspects of this journey they are on is that his big sister Jessica is pregnant, due in little over three weeks, with her first child. While there is joy in the anticipated arrival of Baby Lowman, it is probable that Travis will not get to meet his nephew. Travis has been working for Youth For Christ for two years where he has shared his passion for God and has helped many teens come to know and follow Jesus. Travis has a big kind heart and has provided positive opportunities to become all that God has called them to be. After more than four weeks in the hospital and now in Hospice care, medical bills have started to add up. While Travis has insurance, there is much that insurance doesn’t cover. Along with prayer, if you feel led, please consider donating what you can to help the family cover these unexpected costs.
