Hi Everyone, we unexpectedly found out Fred will need a full tooth extraction. They gave us an estimate between $4,000 and $5,000. I have always taken Fred for regular tooth cleanings in Greece, and they told me he wouldn’t need his teeth removed for a “very long time”. After moving to the U.S. I took Fred to a vet here since he was due for a teeth cleaning. At his evaluation, the vet told me he would likely need all his teeth extracted, and soon. I took him for a second opinion and the vet said he will definitely need all his teeth removed ASAP. Fred is in a lot of pain, and his personality is completely different right now from the Fred we all know and love! If I found this out 4 or 5 months ago, I would have been able to afford it. We would have postponed our move, waited to lease a harbor slot for a year, and we wouldn’t have invested so much into the boat, so soon. However, Fred needs this at a horrible time for us financially. But, I can’t let that get in the way of making sure he gets what he needs. We love him so much and hate to see him in pain and unable to enjoy his harbor duties. I HATE asking for anything and always try to do everything on my own, but I don’t really have another option right now. I tried CareCredit and was denied and the vet in Greece lost all the records the insurance would need to cover a portion of his surgery (I even pay for pet health insurance and added a dental plan on top of that for these situations). Unfortunately, the insurance denied us, too. I will cover the difference of anything we don’t raise.I would greatly appreciate any help you may be able to offer, even $1 will go a long way.
