Hi, my name is Shannon Popescu and I am trying to raise funds to cover the cost of my father's funeral, his headstone, and other expenses due to his sudden passing. Tom was well known in the community for being Tom the Tax Man, but also for his stories and outgoing nature. Tom was a giving person and always looked to help when he could. During the past few months he struggled with some increased health problems, but he always tried to keep a smile on face. He had a recent breakup with his partner of 20 years which had a huge impact on him. Tom was about to sell his home to move into a smaller setting when he passed. Due to a survivorship clause in the deed for the house, all the money was given to his ex from the sale, leaving no money for his final expenses. When asked for assistance to pay for funeral and other expenses from what should have been his portion of the sale of the house, his ex refused to help at all, leaving us kids to try to figure out a way to pay for this. Dad had stated before he passed that he was going to use some of the proceeds from the sale to purchase a prepaid funeral so that we would not be in this position. He also did not have a life insurance policy. If you knew Tom, this is not what he would have wanted. He was not perfect, but tried his best and always wanted what was best for others.
