Hi friends! After years of running a super small slow fashion brand, I have the unique opportunity to create a workshop space adjacent to my studio! My vision is to provide specialized workshops centered around textiles. This includes custom surface design (creating your own printed/painted fabric), block printing onto fabric, and, yes, sewing! I am so excited to connect with community members who are interested in the creative side of working with textiles and sharing my knowledge with them. My workshops will be small, likely 8-10 people max, keeping a fun but intimate environment to work on your project. What I need help with right now funding to purchase 8-10 sewing machines, tables and chairs, printing and sewing supplies, irons, fabric paint, etc. Funding would allow me to set up a complete workshop space with room for growth, new offerings, and line up some classes with outside instructors for some more specialty workshops. They style of workshops taught will have technical elements, but be very hands-on and creative, embracing the DIY ethos and will involve some exploring throughout the process. I will be providing guidelines with the idea that rules are made to be bent can tap into creativity and excitement that a stricter class may not bring out. Of course we will get a bit more technical when it is needed, but I want this to be a space for attendees to truly feel creative and use their imagination.
