The Heat of the Devoted is the story of a man of intense purpose torn apart by needy hands; of a woman set to save the man she loves from the realm of spirits; of a mother’s duty to forgive a criminal. Their lives will become entangled in a conflict in which their passions, feelings, and hidden intentions will come to light. When the two women fight for the heart of a priest, only one of them can win. The Film: Thomas Brine, a priest, placed the worship of God as his highest devotion. An unexpected visit by Delia, a former lover, baffles him. The situation escalates when Miss Leeson, a faithful mother, enters the scene. Visual Treatment: Drawing inspiration from modern films such as Parasite (2019), The Lighthouse (2019), and The Tragedy of Macbeth (2024), The Heart of the Devoted will be shot in black and white. The story takes place in a single location, with the characters facing off against one another. As the conflict intensifies, the room will seem to grow tighter, giving the film the asphyxiating feeling that conveys Thomas Brine's internal struggle. Use of Funds: The funds will be used to cover the expenses of producing the film. We are fortunate to be collaborating with a vast team of filmmakers who have their own equipment, but there is still plenty to be rented out, such as lights, props, furniture, wardrobe, etc. Other expenses will come up during the shoot, like catering, transport, and hard disks. And finally, we will be using the money to pay for festival fees. We plan to use every penny we acquire in the most efficient way! The Team: The Director Octavio Garavito is a young writer/director whose projects have been awarded at private contests. His experience comes from multiple short films, web series and documentaries as an independent filmmaker. The Producer Juergen J. Straub moved to Hollywood in 1976 and began a career as an actor, to later become a producer of commercials and feature films. Among his multiple projects, he produced "Olympics go West", "California Highway” and "Who has the edge?". In 1985, he created and starred in the biggest Guess Jeans print campaign. He has formed a film company called White Sands Pictures LLC in 2013. The Assistant Director Moin Bin Umair is a writer/director/photographer with experience as a film editor. He’s worked on all formats of film ranging from feature and short films to commercials and TV series. He has a bachelor’s degree in Film Production and a Masters in Film Directing.
