I am THE Dan Dalin, A Positive Influence, and I livestream youth sporting events with my own signature style of play-by-play announcing and broadcasting. I began my broadcasting journey during COVID when my children and their teammates were allowed to return to the ice for gameplay, but no spectators were permitted to watch. To allow parents to watch their young athletes, I began streaming the games on YouTube. Originally, I was going to work the camera and make PA announcements for the players. In less than 90 seconds, I began giving play-by-play commentary and I fell in love! Now I live-stream ice hockey, softball, baseball, soccer, and any other sporting event I can! I have almost 2,000 subscribers and over 900 games on my YouTube channel (www.YouTube.com/THEDanDalin). Through sponsors and donations, I have grown from a laptop with a webcam to a full production that sometimes includes 4 different cameras which I manage through OBS streaming software. My next step is to gain formal education in the industry. I have been accepted to the New Media Journalism Masters program at Full Sail University (https://www.fullsail.edu/degrees/new-media-journalism-master). Through this program, I will gain new skills and learn industry methods of interviewing techniques and how to apply them to interactive social media. I will learn about digital newsroom management, multimedia reporting, and the legal and ethical aspects of the digital domain. With this Master's Degree, I will be able to enhance my current production by properly managing multiple cameras and switching between the different camera views properly. The first thing I plan to do is incorporate my new knowledge into my broadcast by adding pre- and post-game interviews with players, coaches, and parents. A Positive Influence is the legal name of my business, and through it, I strive to make good events to be great! And, as I always say, "Don't wait for it to be a good day, make it a great day!"
