The Texas Debate Collective was created in 2009 to allow low-income students to access the highest levels of competitive debate. Expensive training camps are often where top debaters learn and practice their skills over the summer in preparation for the next season. But, students without significant financial resources are shut out from those opportunities. These financial barriers to participation are also unequally distributed; students of color are more likely than their white peers to be unable to participate in debate for financial reasons. TDC’s mission is to make debate available for everyone. To save camp this year, we have to cover a significant cost increase. Our normal camp facilities were not available and our subsequent alternative fell through, all after we'd begun registration. As a result, TDC has had to move facilities and incur a critical budget shortfall. We have refused to cancel any scholarships, so we are prepared to use emergency funds to ensure every kid gets the camp experience they deserve. With an increase of $304 per person, we’re asking for help in offsetting this spike in costs so that our emergency funds can sustain TDC's growth and similar emergencies in the future. Texas Debate Collective is a 501(c)3 (EIN: 90-0587093) so your donations are fully tax deductible. See more information about our organization at our website here: https://texasdebatecollective.org
