Sweetgrass Preschool is on its way! Angie Light and the families of Little Lupine Collective are excited for this next step after completing a beautiful year of preschool on Mythic Farms last year. Angie, an experienced and talented Waldorf early childhood educator, has found a permanent location for her work, which called for a new name. Sweetgrass is a 4-day preschool for children of ages 2.5 to 5 years starting this fall. Opening a new school is no easy feat, and we would love your support! Please share this with anyone that might be interested in contributing. Friends and family who believe in Sweetgrass Preschool may support us and our school community. What will the donations be used for? Here are some examples of what is needed for Sweetgrass Preschool to open its doors: An oven for “baking day,” a professional website, school supplies, and literally a new front door (!). We also need funds for professional development and tuition assistance. Our goal is to raise $24,000, through all manner of donations, big and small. Fundraising Goals and Suggested Donations $12,000 or 50% of the total for Subsidized Tuition $3,000 or 12.5% of the total for Licensing and Professional Development $9,000 or 37.5% of the total for Facilities/Supplies/Start-up Costs (see below) $1,500 washer/dryer $1,000 front door $800 bathroom vanity $700 oven $400 dishwasher $300 small fridge $300 cast iron garden water pump $200 cabinetry $100-$1000 (each) rugs $50 (for a set of 4) kid rakes and shovels $20 silks $10 flour / per week) And much more! Meet Lead Educator, Angie Light I'm a Waldorf-certified Early Childhood Educator with 8+ years of experience in leading infant/parent, toddler/parent and preschool Waldorf early childhood programs. I combine my love of early childhood education with a deep desire to nourish children and their families in becoming their celebrated and best selves. I would describe myself as a gentle activist toward the preservation of childhood, family health and our precious natural environment that holds all of us in place. This all culminates in a deep sense of care for the whole child, great empathy and respect for parents and their parenting, and a fervent belief in the power of imaginative play - particularly outdoor play in nature. I also hold a Bachelor of Social Sciences from the University of British Columbia, Canada and I am a certified Leadership and Life Coach from Royal Roads University on Vancouver Island, BC. And most importantly, I am a Mama of two daughters aged 10 and 14, who are my greatest teachers. ~ Angie Light When a family believes in the education that they have chosen, their child thrives and the whole community benefits. At Sweetgrass Preschool we believe the best investment is providing a childhood anchored in play, love, warmth, reverence, and connection to nature. From our work parties, daily and weekly rhythms, parent educational meetings and festivals, we work as a community to make the magic happen. Receive the children in reverence, educate them in love, and send them forth in freedom. -Rudolf Steiner
