My name is Homayoon and I'm the owner of a small beverage company. After our last bottling run I went to throw away trash into the dumpster of the facility and heard the loud meows of a wet and abandoned kitten. Leaving her there in that condition was the last thing I wanted to do so I decided to rescue her and bring her home. The day I found her was summer solstice which is why I decided to name her Summer. I took Summer to the vet for her vaccines and initial check up which all looked good and healthy. But then, a few days later, I noticed pieces of crumbled plastic in her litter box. I immediately called the vet and they asked to see her for X-rays. That's when it became clear that she had eaten a large amount of plastic which is now inside her stomach. After unraveling some the pieces that she had passed through, it looks to be a disposable glove (commonly used at the food production facility). After consulting with multiple vets, the only option is to surgically remove this plastic that is in her stomach. I was initially hopeful that she may be able to pass this material through naturally without the need for invasive surgery, but the three vets that I spoke to all warned of the sheer amount of foreign objects inside her body which could cause further complications. The vet hospital told me that the "minimum" for this surgery would be $3,000 which is how I came up with the goal for this fundraiser (increased to $3,200 to factor in for LFEBridge fees). If we raise more than this amount then this could cover additional costs involved with the surgery as I have a feeling that the finall bill will be greater than minimum estimate that they gave me. Lastly, if Summer somehow passes all of this plastic through naturally before the surgery (which would be the most ideal yet unlikely scenario), I will be able to return the donations to all of those who contributed to this fundraiser and we can pretend that this horrible scenario never happened!
