Hi, I'm Oliver, but I go by Oli (or Pawrent calls me Oli-bear or Oli-gator when I'm playing). I am a 6-month-old sheltie ("mini Lassie dog") trying to live my best life. I'm a happy, smart good boy, who LOVES food and loves playing with my big brother, Fizz. My Pawrent started noticing that I was always a very laid-back goodest of boys, but I wouldn't ever run. Which is odd for a herding breed. When I went to the vet, the vet said that I have a bone defect. What this means is that my fibula is tethering my tibula and it's not allowing my legs to grow naturally and is causing me discomfort. When my Pawrent reached out to the breeder, the breeder wants to take me away, not allow for Pawrent to work with the vets, and to replace me. The breeder mentioned not having work done and saying my Pawrent would be "just as bonded with any other puppy". Which is untrue. My Pawrent is pretty upset. They are not going to give me away or replace me, but will make sure I have the fullest life a puppy can have. Unfortunately, the vet bill is estimated to be $8k-$10k and that doesn't include the aftercare of bi-weekly xrays till I am healed. The estimate is at least 10k if not 12k by the end of this. Work must be paid upfront. Pawrent is hoping for enough to cover the surgery. Any and all remaining (if any) will be donated to the Humane Society.
