Hi everyone, On the 19th July, I travel to Jinja City in the eastern region of Uganda. While there, I will be volunteering with two local charities; Soft Power Education (SPE) and Rays of Hope Hospice. Both charities do the most fantastic work for the people living in Jinja city. SPE provide free education to disadvantaged children and support families with children who have special needs by providing therapy and educational support. Rays of Hope Hospice provide palliative care for patients with life threatening and life limiting illnesses. Only 11% of people in Uganda who need palliative care have access to it. Rays of Hope Hospice's mission is to change this. I am travelling with the inspirational John Conroy, a fellow Clare native, who has been travelling to this region for 12 years volunteering his skills and time to help change the lives of the people in this region. I will also be joined on the trip by 4 incredible women; Michelle McNamara, Maire Corbett, Aine Quigney and Aine Howard. All flights, accommodation and living costs are individually paid by us volunteers. I would be so grateful if you could please donate a small amount to these wonderful charities. We are all very privileged to have grown up in a society where we have everything we need and want. The children and people these charities work for strive everyday for basic needs and any money raised will help to make a huge difference to their lives. Thank you for your support. Enda Collins
