It is with a heavy heart that we share that Jassidy Marie Garcia, sunrise May 17, 2016 ended her long battle on sunset July 17, 2024. She was surrounded by love, light, and joy. Jassidy was known for her spunk and up-to-date fashion sense. She loved pinkalicious, purses, sunglasses, and bright lights. She was a ball of sass sprinkled with magic. Anyone that came across her she left an imprint on. Her smile was contagious but beware of her mean side-eye. Gretchen knew Jassidy would come with complications and she accepted that once Jassidy was born her life would forever change. Carlos made her a mom but Jassidy built her to be strong, courageous, and the best advocate. She was never a burden to her mom or her family. Everyone embraced what life was with Jassidy and knew their roles. Jassidy was able to attend Wildwood for grade k and 1. She befriended children of all ages and grades. Jassidy did not speak but the connections she made were deep. Everyone loved to see her roll up and down the halls. Her nurse Jen and Jassidy were thick as thieves. Her siblings were proud to share their school with their youngest sister and enjoyed seeing her throughout the day. Her peers gravitated to her seeking to make and maintain connection with her in all the school settings she entered. The adults in her school life sought the quiet moments where they could truly see and be seen by Jassidy. Although small, her impact on our community and the lives she touched, was enormous. Jassidy's family are two of our community's dedicated educators bringing the best of themselves to the children of Wildwood and ARMS daily. The intensity of Jassidy's will to live and experience life this year has meant multiple hospitalizations and significant impacts on the work, home, and economic balance of the family. We hope to ease the financial stressors attached to this time in order to support the family in finding their way to healing.
