I have had the privilege of working with a handful of athletes internationally over the last year, and one overlooked factor that each and every athlete navigates is the multidimensional aspect of commitment it takes to compete at the international level. Training is just one part of this journey; navigating being away from home and work and loved ones is an incredible undertaking. What is even more impressive is these athlete's abilities to prioritize their lives and navigate the expenses (significant) of international travel on minimal funding and often thin sponsorships. Long term, I want to find a way to develop a grant that helps give financial support to Team Canada weightlifters. In the short term, let's come together to rally around an athlete many of us find any excuse to stay up and watch compete at whatever crazy hour local time he ends up being on: Braydon Kennedy. World Championships 2024 will be Braydon's 3rd international competition this year, and his 5th in the last 13 months; it is required for him to continue his Olympic Dreams. Hosted in Saudi Arabia, the cost for this one is pretty hefty between accomodations and travel, and BK is just coming off a recent wedding with his new wife, Emma. If you love the sport, appreciate international events, want to give Braydon a little extra support, or simply want to encourage him to never choose the music at the gym, thank you for considering helping out with the costs. Our commitment: anything earned over the necessary costs for the trip will be joined into a fund that will continue to contribute to athletes internationally moving forward. Thank you for supporting the athletes we love in the sport we all adore!
