My name is Esho Kiku Morimoto. I am trying to raise $8,000 so that I can attend two practice sessions over six months at Tassjara Zen Mountain Center- one of the first Zen Buddhist training monasteries established outside of Asia. These practice periods are part of my priest training and requested by my teacher, Shohaku Okumura—a Japanese Sōtō Zen priest and the founder and former abbot of the Sanshin Zen Community located in Bloomington, Indiana. Practice Period Fees for the six months are $7,200 US ($3,600 for the Sept. session and $3,600 for the Jan. session.) These fees will cover room, board, and tuition. In addition, I need $800 for round-trip airfare, transportation, shipping, and meals. Any support you can offer is greatly appreciated. I am grateful for even the smallest contribution. As of 8/12/2024, I received $350 as a scholarship for BIPOC from Soto Zen Buddhist Association and $834.38 from three friends. My newly adjusted goal is $6815.
