Hi there everyone, thanks for taking the time to stop by my page. Let me introduce myself. My name is Eli, I’m 21 years old and I’m an actor from Birmingham. Since September 2024 I've been studying acting in New York City; an opportunity that has been unbelievably incredible. I've re-vitalised this page as I come home in to summer for a few months. When I'm home I'll be working as many jobs as I can to save money for my second year which begins in September. I’m the first member of my family to go into higher education, and at one of the most exciting drama schools in the United States. I was both honoured and proud that they would offer me, a working-class lad, the chance to study here. In my time so far at The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, I have learnt an unbelievable amount and had the most amazing experiences; from working with talented teachers and students, to working on student films and projects, and also work closer to home - I've had the most beautiful opportunity to help build a new, regional voice for a brilliant lad called Dan from Aldridge in 2024 which has been the most amazing thing that I've ever been involved in. With my second year approaching I'm so so grateful for everyone that's helped me get this far and I couldn't have done it without the support of hundreds of generous, kind-hearted people - thank you. As I knew before I came here, but have experienced these past 9 months - New York is expensive. Even with the $20,000 talent scholarship I was granted by the school, I still have over $30,000 in tuition left for my full course. The American Student visa also heavily limits the work that is available to me so I have been unable to support myself with work while over here. I’ve been working part-time jobs alongside my education since I was 16 so I am no stranger to earning what you work for, and this money, alongside my savings, has helped me get here and supported me in this first year. However I know that next year will only get harder, as I move out of dormitories and look for a flat in New York. This page, I hope, can allow people who here about my story so far and have the means, to contribute in any way they can. I know that times are hard for a lot of people at the moment and I appreciate what a privileged position I’m in to even be able to have got this far. I have confidence in my ability as an actor, and I have absolute faith that NYCDA will push me in the right direction to make a successful career from performing. I know how hard I must work to get there, and any donations you can spare would go a long long way. With that in mind I want to use this opportunity as a springboard to help other people: so, I am going to set up and put 2% of all my future earnings from acting into a trust that will help financially support other young people that have a chance to attend the drama school they have earned their place at. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope to pay back your generosity with hard work and success in the future. Eli xxx
