www.SUHiAlumni.org In preparation of the 100 year centennial celebration of Sweetwater High School, many events and projects were planned including a community fair, highlights at sports events, decade focused student activities and more. Yet because of the pandemic, all of the plans were canceled or postponed. One of the featured projects was a Sweetwater High Historical Museum to be coordinated by Sweetwater High alumni and current staff members, Marco Garcia and Lysabeth Luansing-Garcia. The initial project was to be housed in one of the rooms inside the Sweetwater High Parent Center, an identified historic site in National City. Upon returning post-Covid, the committee wanted the museum to be easily accessible and viewable on a daily bases. Therefore, it was decided to explore the possibility of housing the museum in the foyer of the main building for students and our community to experience every day. As you can imagine, a project like this requires resources and funding, much of which the working budget of a public school cannot bear. The current students, alumni, and the community of Sweetwater High School deserve a museum that commemorates the years of tradition and history of Sweetwater High. We hope this project invigorates the SUHi honor of 100 years of alumni and sparks the pride of the Red Devil Spirit our current students. There is so much we have accomplished and even more to achieve. Your support is a part of that story. We hope the generations of alumni, friends, and family of Sweetwater High School will support the Sweetwater High Historical Museum to leave a legacy for decades of alumni to come. Please call us at Sweetwater High for inquiries on sponsorship and name dedications. Lysabeth, Class of 1996 & Marco, Class of 1995
