Hello, My name is James Otto. I am the current head coach for Long Beach State University Men's Lacrosse Program. Just to give you some brief background on myself. I have been playing & coaching lacrosse since 2014. I played at Saint Mary's College of California (MCLA D2). In addition, coached the women's lacrosse team at Saint Mary's for about 1 year. I am now entering my third year of coaching at Long Beach State University. Assisting me in this project is Head Coach Kelton Clarke. Coach Clarke is the current head coach at Loyola Marymount University. Coach Clarke played at Washington University (MCLA D2) located in St. Louis, Missouri. He played three seasons and was named Honorable Mention All-Conference Midfield, and All-Conference Short Stick Defensive Midfielder in 2019. He is now entering his second year as head coach for Loyola Marymount. In 2013, the Philippines Lacrosse Association (PLA) was created by Co-Founder Ron Garcia. The goal of the PLA was to help bring and introduce the game of Lacrosse not just to the people in the Philippines, but to all Filipinos everywhere. The goal was very simple which was to grow the game. Over the past 9 years, Ron & the PLA continues to strive for the mission to help grow the game. Throughout those nine years, the Philippines Lacrosse Association has achieved those goals not just on a national basis, but globally as well. They have appeared twice at the World Lacrosse Championships in 2018 & 2024. The Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) is a conference in the Men's Collegiate Lacrosse Association (MCLA). It is made up of 24 Teams in three different divisions. The schools are located throughout Southern California and Arizona. The SLC is creating a team to send to the Philippines to help contribute to the goal of the Philippines Lacrosse Association. The goal is to help grow the game of lacrosse in the Philippines. This trip will be ten days in Manila, Philippines. Throughout our time there we will be helping host clinics for youth kids to learn the game, and help advocate for the mission of the PLA. Our goal is to help the PLA show the people of the Philippines how amazing lacrosse can be. We will be having some joint practices with Manila Lacrosse Club throughout our ten days in Manila. This will help us bring stuff back to the United States to share with our fellow teammates. Lastly, to end this amazing event the SLC Team will be taking on Manila Lacrosse Club in an amazing Lacrosse game that should be fun to put on for the people of the Philippines. However, for us to reach our goal we will need your help. Your donation will help cover expenses for airfare, hotel, transportation, gear etc. This project is a huge deal as this will be the first time in history that any United States Lacrosse Team will be going to the Philippines. This goal will not be cheap as you can see in the breakdown below. With your help, we can help the Philippines Lacrosse Association reach for their goal, and Grow The Game! The breakdown for 22: AIRFARE: $40,000 HOTEL: $13,000 FOOD: $3,000 TRANSPORTATION: $2,00 GEAR: $4,000 COACHES: $5,400 Thank you! Maraming Salamat!
