Hi my name is Laura Brown. Myself and husband Slade are fundraising for our good friend Shawn Moffats funeral. Shawn was suddenly and tragically taken from our lives on May 5th this year while at work. He suffered a sudden heart attack while working in the kitchen. We have all been left totally shocked and deeply saddened by his passing. He had just turned 50. Shawn’s partner of 9 years and his daughter who is 19 have been left completely devastated, It’s sadly taken some time to organise his funeral, in part, because unfortunately Shawn’s nearest and dearest were left without the ability to fund his funeral. Therefore, so we can give Shawn the send off he deserves, we are reaching out to everyone that knew Shawn to ask if you can could, would you please help, no matter how much or little you can. I know Shawn’s family would be forever grateful. If we manage to exceed the funds beyond the funeral costs and wake, we will donate to Diabetes UK, as Shawn suffered with this condition. Shawn came to Kent when he was just 16 to work and live at Soufflé Restaurant in Bearsted (aka Suefflé) and then on to The Dirty Habit. Shawn was undoubtedly a talented and passionate chef. After earning his stripes he went on to Chef at many pubs in and around Maidstone Kent, including The Pepper Box Inn, The Oak on The Green, The Butchers Block with his good friend Simon Rickwood, to name just a few. If he knew you were eating where he was working, he’d always poke his head out from the kitchen and give you a cheeky grin before dashing back to work and if you were still about when the kitchen shut he’d be there joining you for a drink. Shawn was so generous of heart, kind, caring and fun loving. His smile would light up the room and he really would do anything for anyone. Shawn loved to be amongst it with his friends and family, he truly will be missed by all who knew him, so if you could spare to donate, no matter how little, it would be so very much appreciated in helping us to achieve the best send off that Shawn so deserved. Thank you for everything - you’ll be missed forever Shawn.
