Rochester lost a great one. Joshua A Whitney. You may have met him when he worked for John West at Johnny's Estate Auction Service, helping showcase items up for auction and setting up and working swap meets, cooking at the Junction, volunteering with Rochester Citizens Group - Swede Hall, driving through Swede Day parade. Or just seeing him drive around town in his big maroon dodge with the flag waving. He passed away in his home Monday from an inoperable brain tumor. He leaves behind 2 children and many friends and family. He was always willing to help friends or strangers alike and now is the time for us to come together and help him. Please help fulfill his last wish to be buried surrounded by loved ones and be honored at Tahoma cemetery. As a medically retired army veteran he is not eligible for much to help with funeral expenses ($12,295.50) and the family needs help to fund it. The funeral is being held at Mills and Mills in tumwater and at the moment it looks like it will not happen because of the expense. Please if you are willing to donate, click on the go fund me link below or call Mills and Mills to donate directly. Thank you and God Bless. From his sister ... If you knew Josh you'd know he was the most beloved heaven-sent man. Everyone that met SGT Joshua Adam Whitney USA RET was touched by his ability to make those around him smile and laugh. Throughout Joshes life he made so many friends. He exuberated compassion and a spirit that was so strong and sweet that you couldn't help wanting to stay a little longer. He had the gift of creating an atmosphere that made people gravitate toward him. He will be missed by so many. Please help us put him to rest and celebrate his life in any way you can. Donations, prayers, food, and stories are all welcomed and greatly appreciated. For all those who would like to attend Joshua's full-service veterans memorial and funeral, we ask for all the help to not limit the guest list.
