Thank you for joining our fundraiser to help Sam pursue his degree in aerospace engingeering! Each dollar we raise will put Sam closer to his dream of a career in aviation. We met Sam thru Chris' nonprofit work in Kenya. Sam hails from Kibera, Kenya -- one of Africa's largest informal settlements. Life in Kibera is challenging, with lack of access to many basic needs, like electricity and running water. Kids in Kibera often don't make it to high school graduation. But Sam has always been driven in his studies. A star student, Sam earned 3 scholarships to pursue a degree in aerospace engineering at the University of Kentucky (UK). An opportunity of a lifetime! In August 2024, he boarded his first ever plane flight and left Kenya for the very first time -- bound for Lexington. The dream was in motion.... But this dream will take a village... so here's where we need your help! Sam's scholarships cover 90% of tuition during his four years at UK (the maximum amount for an international student). Sam has an on-campus job to supplement these scholarships, but needs support to cover the balance. We have signed on to help Sam raise the remaining funds needed in Year 1 -- which are estimated at ~$15,000 (this covers on-campus housing, meals, health insurance, and tuition balance).
