Chico Oaks Youth Rugby high school age teams have a special opportunity to go on an IRELAND RUGBY TOUR!!! They will be playing three matches against Irish teams as well as participating in training sessions at world-class rugby facilities. They will attend 6 Nations Rugby 2024 match and be "behind the scenes" with World Cup winners Connacht Rugby! They will tour Croke Park Stadium and the Gaelic Athletic Association Museum as well as some sightseeing around Ireland. Her photo/videographer brother Tyler is going along to help chaperone and document the tour!! If you've been following Faith you know that she started playing Rugby last year for the Chico Wild Oaks. This is her first time playing a sport and she is ALL IN! Being part of a team, learning a sport and volunteering in the community has been a Great Experience for her!! Rugby is truly rain or shine! By that, I mean thunderstorms, monsoon rain, intense heat,.. they play in all of it! Practice twice a week and traveling to out of town matches every weekend (while maintaining A grades) requires dedication, and she is dedicated. She has spent her off-season time filling in on other North State teams who were short players, attending practices, and she just returned from a four-day intensive Rugby Skills Camp at St Mary's College. Her favorite event of the Summer so far was playing a wheelchair rugby match with Ability First Sports Summer Camp! She has also worked at many volunteer opportunities including, parking duty at the Chico Nut Festival at Patrick Ranch, making 300+ sandwiches at the Silver Dollar Fair, loading tables and chairs for Chico Brewfest, and she was involved with every part of the Yard Sale fundraiser at Chico High. The team is doing group fundraising such as Car Washes, Spaghetti Dinners etc, which will lower the total cost of the trip. Faith has taken several odd jobs to raise money toward our share. She has recycled for neighbors, painted storage containers, done event set-up and tear down, filing and organizing, and dog sitting,.. you name it, she does it. Even with the team fundraising and as many odd jobs as she can make time for, this will be very expensive and we will be relying on the generosity of friends for a good part of this. This is a wonderful opportunity and I am sure that we can make it happen! Thank you in advance. Tour price is about $6000, 6 Nations match tickets may be $200 and then she'll need some money for meals and the obligatory rugby swag hoodie of course. She also desperately needs new gear; rugby is rough! The last payment is due January 25th and that will be here sooner than we think! We have already applied for her passport and made the first deposits thanks to a few donations and her work!! Any donations will be very gratefully accepted, as well as odd jobs when she has time. I will be posting links to other ways to donate such as Venmo. I will be updating this as payments are made and plans are finalized. please share this fundraiser with your friends and family and get this kid to Ireland!! Thank you so much!
