Massdojo's National Karate Team (Kaizen Shotokan Karate-do) qualified 3 athletes in the #1 and #2 spots at the USANKF Team Trials this past July in Richmond, VA. All 3 athletes and their coach will travel to Santiago, Chile from August 20-27th to compete at the Junior Pan American Championships. All 3 athletes qualified in their individual kumite (sparring event). This is Eva Chandel's 2nd year in a row qualifying in the #2 spot. Surya Balaji qualified in the #1 spot in his first try making the Junior Team. Khanak Patel finished in the #1 spot (besting Eva in the final), and she is the only purple belt from the dojo to ever make the Jr. National Team. The cost of this trip is a minimum of $3000 and the children must travel with an accompanying adult or guardian. Sensei Rossini is also going in support as a national trainer, but also must pay his own way. Any contribution helps, and it will be split amongst the four.
