My name is Laura Feola, and I'm starting this LFEBridge to help support my friend Leah as she works her way to nursing school. Leah is a rockstar. Not only is she working full-time, but she is also the primary parent for her two teens, keeping the fridge full, paying the bills, and making sure they have clothes and wifi and her big love. On top of this, Leah has a big dream: she wants to be an RN. This winter she started taking prerequisite classes, which means that every night she has been studying 2-5 hours to get through her coursework, on top of the full-time job and kids. Like I said, ROCKSTAR. Doing all this is super hard, but Leah, being a smarty-pants, has a plan. She is working at the UW so her pre-requisite courses are subsidized (she still needs to pay for fees and books). This summer she has signed up for a program to be a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) so that she can change jobs and get the clinical experience required for nursing school. Next school year, she will take more pre-reqs at night, all while working full time and keeping a house full of kids together. It’s gonna be a lot of work, and she’s doing it. I am writing to invite dear friends and family to give Leah a Scholarship of Love to help her through this next year and make her nursing school dream as real as a pair of white Hoka nursing shoes. Support will go toward the CNA program ($925); prereq books and fees, a new laptop, program application fees, and any random costs that may arise. Anything raised above this goal will go toward a scholarship for nursing school. I know that Leah is the first person to help when the call is made; I hope that we can show her just a fraction of the love she gives the world and all of us every day with this gift.
