Hi, my name is Amy and I’m fundraising for my foster dog Tommy who is currently in the care of Lucky Paws Dog Rescue. Tommy was one of many dogs rescued from an animal hoard near Moose Jaw, Sk. in November 2024. All of the dogs taken into foster care with Lucky Paws were able to rehabilitate, recover from their trauma and get adopted within a few months of their rescue. Tommy however, has not been able to progress. Despite immense love and effort from myself and his previous foster family, Tommy remains cognitively and emotionally shut down. Tommy is only 2-3 years old. Abuse and neglect is all he has ever known. He lives each day in fear and does not move from his safe space except to use a pee pad, which he will only do at night when he is sure that all of the humans are sleeping. He spends 16 hrs/day frozen in one spot. He does not interact with people and is unable to receive love. He is not aggressive, just scared and unsure how to behave outside of the control of his abusers. Physically, Tommy appears to be fine. His trauma is emotional. He currently has a small team of practitioners providing him with Reiki, Body Talk and Animal Communication, however, it is evident that he needs more help. This fundraising effort is aimed at generating enough funds to enlist Billie Groom as part of Tommy’s care team. Billie is local to Regina and a world renowned animal behaviourist. Her approach to treatment is based on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT is used in the treatment of people experiencing trauma, depression, anxiety and more. Billie has successfully developed a method to apply CBT to animals and she has helped rescue dogs all over the world recover from traumatic experiences. Unfortunately, CBT for Tommy is an expense that the rescue is unable to readily pay for. My fundraising goal will cover the initial cost of Tommy’s therapy. Tommy is suffering emotionally and is in desperate need. His sweet little soul is lost and he deserves this chance at recovery. My immense gratitude for any monetary help and/or social media shares.
