Hi! The feline beauty queen in the photo is Bella. She adopted me on Valentines Day in 2016, and, with the addition of her little brother, Socrates, we've been a family unit ever since. Bella's life hadn't been easy before we met; she had been cruelly declawed, and was extremely timid for quite awhile after I brought her home. The animal shelter said she was anywhere from 4-6 years old in 2016, so she's anywhere from 11-13 now. My cat family and I have been through a lot together, although the difficulties have always been of the human kind. This time, it's Bella who needs help; a few of her teeth are severely infected and must be removed. She is the sweetest cat and, until recently, she has been in great health. About 2 months ago, I noticed that she wasn't eating any dry food, and hardly ate anything but the gravy in her wet food. I changed her diet to include softer food, and she has gained weight beautifully. But she's obviously in pain, and it's getting worse by the day. Bella's bloodwork came back pretty much normal, which means that she qualifies for surgery under anesthesia. Since all dental surgery for cats must be under general anesthesia, this was good news. Also good news is that this surgery will alleviate her discomfort, and essentially save whatever life she has left. Not such great news was the cost estimate for the surgery. The first vet we found estimated $2600-3300! Gasp! Fortunately, Bella liked the second vet much more, and he has estimated that her surgery will cost between $1,689 and $2,143. Well, that's a much more reasonable estimate, but as a disabled person living on a small fixed income, with no savings whatsoever, I simply have no way to pay for Bella's surgery. At all. And this surgery is not elective - the infection is very serious. I have put off setting up this campaign because I am so uncomfortable asking anyone for money, never mind publicly. But Bella's surgery is scheduled for August 22nd, and I'm just hoping desperately that at least a few other cat lovers will help me ensure that my dear companion, the gorgeous diva cat in the photo, has a life as beautiful as she is. You have my fervent thanks for any help you can give. Bella deserves to be able to eat and live without pain for at least a few more years; and I need her.
