The Voight family has endured more than their fair share of hardships, and now their beloved four-legged companion, Ace, is fighting for his life. Ace, a loyal and gentle 4 1/2-year-old German Shepherd, was rescued by the Voight family. His previous owner worked long 12-hour shifts and he was left alone for long periods of time. Once adopted by the Voights, he quickly became an integral part of their lives, bringing immeasurable joy and love into their home. But fate had other plans, and now Ace is facing an excruciating struggle. Recently, Ace's back legs have become emaciated and he can't place much weight on them. He walks like a drunken sailor and oftentimes has a hard time getting up. His back legs give out and sometimes he just wipes out for no reason. He is obviously in pain. Witnessing him in distress breaks the hearts of everyone who knows him, especially at his young age. The Voight family needs to find out what is wrong with his hips/back legs and then immediately start treatment. He needs diagnostic tests, X-Rays, and other imaging tests to figure it out. The vet believes it is possibly Hip Dysplasia or Degenerative Myelopathy. The vet is recommending a holistic veterinary clinic that also offers chiropractic help for pets. We are hoping to treat him without surgery (chiropractic & holistic treatment). Any potential solutions will be pursued with all the love and dedication that the Voight family can muster. Unfortunately, the cost of these life-saving procedures is beyond what the Voight family can afford. We cannot bear to see Ace suffer, and this is where your compassion and generosity come into play. He is very active & loves to play and be outside. He loves to race the neighbor dogs along the fence line - he has a hard time running now, and it's heartbreaking. He enjoys helping 'Mommy' refill the birdfeeders and chases away the squirrels who try to swipe it. His day is not complete without "Story Time" in the afternoon with Mommy (listening to audiobooks).
