Stella is a Bernese Mountain Dog who was rescued from a puppy mill and is being fostered by Sharon Dolan. Stella has made great progress in the last 6 weeks. She had lived her entire life in a cage with her food just tossed in through the wire. When Sharon first took her in, she would only eat if the food was tossed on the floor. Stella has such a sweet personality but is afraid of many things. Initially opening/closing doors and loud noises scared her. The first time Sharon raised a ball thrower to toss to her dog Benson, Stella yelped and flattened herself to the ground, responding as if shes been previously hit. She’s also afraid of men and strangers. Stella had no previous socialization but that has changed as she goes with Sharon and Benson to a large dog park every morning. There Stella plays with many new fur and people friends. With training, she has learned the basic commands and is pretty much potty trained. Stella is 6 months now and beginning to come out of her shell and is attached to Sharon. Sharon has fostered many dogs but Stella has blossomed and formed a special bond with Sharon and Benson. Sharon, I and all the dog park ladies would love for Stella to be able to stay in her home. With Sharon, for the first time in her young life, Stella feels safe and is being provided with the best loving home. It breaks our hearts to think of her being uprooted and sent with strangers to relive her anxiety. So, why this long plea? The adoption fee is $1200, and additional medical of hernia repair, a gastropexy, and spaying is approximately $1100 - an additional $100 was added towards GFM fees.Sharon is retired on a fixed income and can provide for Stella, it’s the upfront fees compounded by the immediate medical attention that is the challenge. We are reaching out to animal lovers everywhere to help keep Stella in her happy home. Every dollar is greatly appreciated and going to keep Stella with Sharon and Benson. Thank you all for showing how much you love animals.
