Update: Ollie had a vet appointment on 7/11 where they were able to do a needle biopsy. This showed primarily normal cells, however some bacteria and a few mast cells as well. This has the potential to turn into mast cell tumors (cancer) but the vet is hopeful that it will not develop due to a limited number of cells. He is currently on antibiotics, antihistamines and pain medication which he seems to be responding to. The vet did say that these lumps will never go away and might have to be surgically removed, depending on his pain level and if he is able to tolerate living with them. He has a follow up appointment on Monday, 7/24 for potential surgery and to be re-evaluated. Thank you to everyone who has supported us this far, we couldn't have made it here without you. While he is not out of the woods yet, we are hopeful for him. Hi, my name is Allie and I have an 8 year old border collie beagle who is my whole world. He originally came from Parma animal shelter 6 years ago from an abusive home, but it was him who saved my life. He got me through many traumas in college, including sexual assault, being hit by a car and the difficulty of nursing school. My boy now needs to have surgery on the bottom of his foot due to a 3 mm painful growth. Throughout the past few weeks, we have been to the vet quite a few times due to his front left foot having a tumor. He then accidentally ate his entire prescription medication and had to have his stomach pumped, be on fluids and multiple medications for that and barely recovered. It is looking like surgery is the only option to help save his foot and to determine if he has cancer. As a young nurse and with so many recent vet bills, I sadly cannot afford surgery as an option. I am looking for any and all options to help make this possible and even though I don’t like asking for help, I would do anything to avoid having to put him down due to financial stress. Anything and everything helps, and we will be forever grateful.
