UPDATE! Fri., July 27: Romeo was released from the hospital on 7/16, and is on stall rest, where he is boarded. He is in a familiar environment again, and sees all his friends, but his condition is "GUARDED"! He's getting medication, soaked hay and fresh bedding round-the-clock, and he's allowed to go for little walks - ONLY being led by Jaqueline or a friend ... he moves very slowly and carefully with each step. He has special shoes, prescribed by the vets, following x-rays of his feet ...which MUST be repeated every few weeks, and (of course) are costly. His vets came on Thurs, 7/26 for an evaluation, and he did well! They took him off a 40 Tylenol/day regimen and reduced his pain medication ... and now he must be monitored for any sign of flareups, and will need his orthopedic shoes redone soon ... He cannot run ... he perks up when he gets a visitor, and loves being brushed. He has a window in his stall which he stands by and loves to look out to the back fields ... and his friends. It will be several months of stall rest, and Romeo is in it to win it! PLEASE CONTINUE to help Romeos' road to recovery with donations and prayers as this campaign continues! ANY amount is greatly appreciated. It goes IMMEDIATELY to Romeos' bills. Thank you and bless you each and every friend... -------------------------- UPDATE! Tues, July 11: Exactly one week has passed and Romeos'condition has stabilized. He has been moved out of the 'critical care' section to astall where there are other horses! He has an appointment for custom/therapeutic horseshoes to be applied by his farrier, at the clinic, and guided by his Dr.s and xrays of his feet for reference. He will stay for observation, bloodwork, and x-rays for a few days before being discharged .Possibly on the weekend. But no promises. He is going to need stall rest for many months, in addition to check-ins with his vets, when he returns 'home'. He cannot go back outside to run with his friends, or eat some of his favourite treats (NO sugar!), but he will be happy to be home, for sure. This has been a life-changing event, and the financial help not to mention the kind words of goodiwill and your awesome prayers have undoubtedly saved his life!! Please keep it up with all these things, as Jaqueline still has the hospital stay, tests, custom shoes, and x-ray bills to be paid for. SO.... Please keep sharing this. Please keep contributing ... no matter how much or how little. Please keep praying, and thank you for believing in miracles. (PART 1/July 7): Romeo is a handsome 'paint' horse, and he has a person name Jaqueline... Romeo has been living in Ringoes, NJ and has many friends at his barn... He belongs to a 'pack' of he and 7 other geldings (boy horses). They spend their free time outside in a huge field with trees and a stream and one another! Romeo always enjoyed a good romp around with the boys, even sometimes a race up the hill to the grass! Lately, Romeo became quieter than usual, but it was blamed on the heat, which will wear on a horse for sure. But one Saturday Jaqueline noticed he wasn't as boistrous and energetic as usual, and she noticed he just wasnt himself ..Her vet came .amd the testing/advice began... and on Monday 7/3 he was having trouble walking and on Tuesday 7/4 he was transported to a local equine veterinary hospital where he is being tested for Potomac Horse Fever and treated for laminitis ... a painful inflammation 'inside' his hooves. It could lead to founder (a rotation of a major bone inside the hoof) which is a bleak prognosis. Meantime, the clock is ticking, and the meter is running on the cost of his hospital stay etc, and Jaqueline and Romeo NEED HELP! Please consider donating to this urgent cause .. All donations are 'big' ones at this point and greatly appreciated. All donations will go directly to Jaqueline, and applied to Romeos hospital bill and treatment plan. Bless you for reading, and giving what you can.
