Hi, my name is McKenna Green and I started this LFEBridge on behalf of my best friend & retired service dog, Rolston. Rolston is a pup at heart and doesn’t know his limits. Last time he played fetch with his younger brother, he had a hard time sitting out. We let him have three short throws to make him feel included and he ended up tearing his right rear ACL. The leg requires surgery, and without it his leg will begin to become arthritic and he won’t be able to bend it or use it. Not being able to do things with me but watching my other dog do so without him will make him feel he’s lost his purpose. I don’t want his health to further decline as a result cause I truly attribute his good health to him being so loved and needed. He is an older boy, and I asked the vet if, given his age, it would be worth the surgery. He said age is not a disease and other than the leg, Rolston is in great health (his teeth got a glowing review). Surgery, rehabilitation, medication, and physical therapy can be up to $5,000. I just began my Master’s Degree and know I won’t be able to come up with all the funds on my own. This was difficult for me to start because sometimes it can be uncomfortable for me to ask for help. However, this dog means more to me than anything. Seeing him in pain and defeated when I have to leave him at home has been really hard to watch. Rolston got to experience college life with me, walked on the graduation stage when I got my undergrad degree, and his fur has absorbed a good 97% of the tears I’ve cried since I first got him. He has moved a total of nine times with me, across the country and back, to and from college, and in and out of apartments. Out of all the words in the English language, I probably couldn’t put any sum of them together to express what he means to me. I told him I would get him fixed up, just like he’s been there to patch me up with stinky kisses and little spoon snuggles through some of the most difficult times in my life. I know that he hasn’t just touched my heart but leaves paw prints on every person he encounters. Anyone that knows Rolston knows he is a sweet, well-mannered gentleman. He loves bagel bites and peanut butter (although those aren’t in the diet plan anymore). In the summer, you can find him in the lake or with his head out the window of my car. He loves to go on adventures, especially when hammocks or swimming is involved. Even when he screws up (like pooping in a college library) he always makes up for it with lots of licks and even more groveling. Even if you are unable to donate, a share goes SO far and means so much. All the funds collected will go towards his surgery, any medication needed, all rehabilitation efforts, and, of course, emotional support treats because they will be deserved and needed. I will make sure to post updates as he goes through the process to share how he is doing. Thank you so much for every dollar and every share. I would kiss ya if I could, and I’m sure Rolston would give you a high paw in appreciation.
