Robert ‘RJ’ James Johnson was born on May 5th, 1961 in Spokane, WA to Barbara J Vanin and Carl Wallace Johnson. He graduated from Central Valley High School in 1979. After graduating high school RJ entered the commercial fishing trade in Dutch Harbor, AK. RJ used to enjoy telling stories like those in the hit show “Deadliest Catch”. After a couple of years of catching king crab in the dangerous seas of Dutch Harbor, he eventually enlisted in the Navy in June of 1982. RJ spent 6 years of active duty aboard USS Sterett CG-31 as a Fire Control (FC) Radar Technician. As a Navy FC RJ ensured the ship’s missile systems were operational during the Cold War. RJ shared stories of close encounters with Russian ships while at sea. He was then Honorably Discharged in March of 1988 with the rank of Petty Officer First Class. After leaving the Navy, RJ joined Unisys Corporation as a defense contractor where he worked on the Department of Defense systems. A few years later he accepted a job as a Field Service Engineer at Acuson , now Siemens Healthcare, where he worked on diagnostic ultrasound in many hospitals in Southern California and Nevada. Several years later he started his own 3rd party service business, Accurate Imaging, and he remained self-employed in the Medical and Marine Electronics industry for the rest of his working life. RJ passed away on June 2nd, 2024 at the age of 62 in New Franklin, MO. He is survived by his only son, Christopher (CJ).
